Renew Community Update

You've currently raised $246,328.31 toward our renovation project as of December 3rd. That's over 75% of our goal!

Additional Parking

Our parking lot get's very full on Sundays, especially between our two services. This is a great issue to have, because it mean's we're growing. However it's still an issue we need to solve. To help with this issue, we've received permission from the owner of Coventry Towne Plaza to park in the gravel lot directly behind our recycling bins. If you're able, please consider parking in that lot to free up spacing for visitors and those who cannot walk as far. Also if our lot is full, feel free to park in the gravel lot. Thanks for your help while we work towards a more long term solution.

Help with Kid's Christmas Party

Can you help? We are looking for volunteers to help during our 3pm Happy Birthday Jesus party on Christmas Eve. Food will be provided for those staying for both services if you're volunteering.

Baptism

We will have baptism on January 27, 2019. If you are interesting in being baptized, let us know.

Give

Give Online

Your support allows us to operate and serve our community all with the goal of glorifying Jesus and making Him known. A portion of all general fund donations goes directly to the missionaries we support.

We at the Community Church of Portage Lakes do not want any individual to go into debt in order to give to our church. Please only give with a credit card if you are able and planning on paying the balance off each month.

Serve

Find An Area To Serve

We need you! Consider giving your time and talents to serve others in our community. Let us know you're interested in serving, and we'll reach out to you to discover an area you'll enjoy volunteering in.

The Book of Colossians

Students@Community

Sundays 9:30am

In this series, Louie Giglio will take us through the book of Colossians to help us form a complete picture of Jesus. What we believe about Him influences everything from our corporate worship to our relationships to our attitude toward sin. Now alive in Christ, we can live a life worthy of God instead of falling back into the ways of the world.

Rather, J.D. works through each chapter unpacking the truth of God’s grace in the midst of human wickedness, and shows how only the divine can redeem the fallen.

Pursuing the Journey

Sundays at 9:30am

Led by John Tummel. They are a group of people who love to pray together and work through faith together. Known for being all over the map in who they are as individuals. The group is open to all ages but generally draw people from 30 to 55. They would love for people to join their class.

CrossTalk

Sundays at 9:30am

Led by Josh Kline. They are open to adults of all ages and in all walks of life- single, married, divorced, widowed- everyone is welcome! Life is painful and hard. Thankfully, as believers in Christ, we do not have to journey through this life by ourselves. We are all broken, and no one should feel as though they don't belong. In John 13:35 we are comforted by these words, “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” Whether you are a new believer or have known Christ for years and are looking for a place to grow in Christ where you can be real, where you can be vulnerable, and where you can be encouraged.

Crossroads

Sundays at 9:30am

Led by Rich Arny and Dave Bradford. They meet together each Sunday for prayer and snacks and Bible study. The class is open to all ages. They are beginning the study of the book of Acts. Whether young or old, Acts begins with the ascension of Jesus Christ, the filling of the Holy Spirit, Peter's sermon at Pentecost, the beginning of persecution for believers, Peter warned, many prayers for boldness and the first church is established. Acts tells of the problems, great offerings, various leaders placed in position, the life of Stephen, and the trouble maker Saul who is chosen by the Lord and is now named Paul. Acts is active and full of great victory for the steadfast believers. Paul obeys the great commission to go and reach out to the Gentiles with his missionary journeys. The Lord still needs the "Pauls" of life today to spread the same message.

This study will run for 7 weeks. “WE SAVED YOU A SEAT Finding and Keeping Lasting Friendships” by Lisa-Jo Baker. In this 7-session Bible study, Lisa-Jo Baker and friends from (in)courage explore our relationship with Jesus as the ultimate model for authentic friendship. Nothing shapes us like the impact of a friend. — it’s how Jesus radically and intimately connects with us. So instead of chasing perfection, overcome your fear of being known and find the courage to connect. After this 7 week study is over, we will have a fellowship night and then we are starting an Acts study! We will study the book itself, with other intermittent life lessons and within the church and how we act as well. We will study the women in Acts. Joy Manda has chosen a study in Corinthians. We will start with First Corinthians and work our way through Second Corinthians too. In 1 Corinthians Paul deals with many issues and sins that the church is dealing with head on. Some issues were even causing divisions within the church. Wow, this is good stuff! In Second Corinthians the people seem more unified, but they have false teachers still getting them off track Do we listen to and follow Godly leaders? Paul touches on all of these topics. As always we will be using the Bible as our main text, but I have found a set of Max Lucado’s Life Lessons books on 1&2 Corinthians that we will also use. The books go through Corinthians methodically with some good applications, but it’s not verse by verse, so we will draw in other information as we see fit. Please note, there will not be ‘homework’– we will work through the lessons as a group. If you don’t sign up or can’t come every week, you are still welcome to join us when you can, each week will stand on its own.
